How Silicolgel Helps to Treat Acid Reflux

Gastrointestinal disorders are very often caused by irritants, toxins and pathogens that lead to the disruption and malfunction of the digestive tract.

Acid reflux is the action by which stomach content travels back up the oesophagus and into the throat or mouth, causing heartburn and discomfort.

Acid reflux occurs when the sphincter muscle does not correctly confine stomach contents and can be triggered by the consumption of irritating foodstuffs and excess acidity, amongst others.

If you, like many people, experience acid reflux, rest assured that there are ways of treating and relieving acid reflux fast and effectively.

What is Silicolgel?

silicol®gel is an oral gel used to treat upper gastrointestinal disorders such as Reflux. The gel helps manage symptoms and provides relief from gastrointestinal discomfort.

silicol®gel is a natural substance, containing silicic acid, which is a compound of the mineral substance silicon and oxygen in a colloidal (highly dispersible) and hydrated form. Silicon and oxygen are the two most abundant elements on earth.

How Silicolgel Helps to Treat Acid Reflux

silicol®gel coats the stomach and upper gastrointestinal tract with a protective lining of the silicic acid gel. The lining acts ‘like a magnet’ attracting irritants, toxins and pathogens and binds them to the gel.

During this process, the silicol®gel particles also adsorb excess acidity and gases. When the stomach empties naturally, these molecules are passed through the body.

For adults and children over 12, silicolgel is suitable for vegetarians, vegans, those with allergies, Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis.

  1. Can you take silicol gel if you have low stomach acid? I get acid reflux and have been trying herbal remedies like centaurium and digestisan but they seem to take a long time to have any effect. I was prescribed acid blockers but didn’t get on with them

    1. Yes, you can take silicolgel. It adsorbs excess acidity and binds gases but doesn’t act as an acid blocker or reduce acid production in general. However, we advise on pack that silicolgel should be avoided if you are hypersensitive to any of its ingredients, including Silicon Dioxide, Sorbic Acid, and Sodium Benzoate.
